LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
At Sparkman Elementary School,
student work is proudly displayed through-out campus and classrooms affirming
individual and group accomplishments. Each month students participate in the
Character Counts program, emphasizing the importance of respect,
trustworthiness, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. During the Friday Flag
Salute and the monthly awards assembly, students are recognized for citizen-ship
and academic achievement. At the beginning of the school year,
parents and students are given Sparkman Elementary School Student Hand-books
detailing the importance of maintaining a safe and orderly
environment.

QUALITY
OF INSTRUCTION |
TVUSD aligns its curriculum with state
standards and provides enrichment activities at the site level to support
instruction. The District also holds a philosophy
that each school principal should be the Instructional Leader on that cam-pus.
As such, principals take an active role in the learning process at each
TVUSD school, spending much of their day in the classroom.
TVUSD teachers are evaluated and given areas for improvement by
their principals. To aide in this endeavor, administrators are trained in evaluation
skills. This training is designed to help administrators evaluate their staff in a
manner that will produce better teaching in the classroom and thus enhance
student success. Staff development days enhance this
quest for excellence by giving teachers the tools needed to succeed in an on-going
manner.
Goals for Staff Development:
· Support for Literacy
· English Language Arts materials
· Support for math programs
· New teacher training
· Positive classroom management training

Parent volunteers are an important part of the educational programs at
Sparkman Elementary School. Many programs and activities would not be
possible without parent involvement. All activities are highlighted in our
