campus and in classrooms, affirming individual and group
accomplishments. Each month students participate in the
Character Counts program, emphasizing the importance of
respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, fairness,
caring, and citizenship. During the Friday Flag Salute
and the monthly awards assembly, students are recognized

QUALITY
OF INSTRUCTION |
|
TVUSD aligns
its curriculum with state standards and
provides enrichment activities at the site
level to support instruction. The District
also holds a philosophy that each school
principal should be the Instructional Leader
on that campus.
As such, principals take an active role in the
learning process at each TVUSD school,
spending much of their day in the classroom.
TVUSD teachers are evaluated and given areas
for improvement by their principals. To aide
in this endeavor, administrators are trained
in evaluation skills.
This training is designed to help
administrators evaluate their staff in a
manner that will produce better teaching in
the classroom and thus enhance student
success. Staff development days enhance this
quest for excellence by giving teachers the
tools needed to succeed in an on-going manner.
