To assure a peaceful
learning environment where students achieve academic
success, we have integrated the Peace Builders Program.

which creates a peaceful learning environment,
decreasing violence and disruptive behavior while
increasing positive respectful, thoughtful behavior. A
common language and high expectations become school
norms.
Helen
Hunt Jackson and Temecula
In 1862, Louis Wolf [one
of Temecula’s earliest merchants, postmaster, and most
influential characters] married Ramona Place who had
been born in Santa Barbara in 1846 and was half Indian.
Author Helen Hunt Jackson visited briefly with Louis and
Ramona Wolf in the spring of 1882 and again in May,
1883. Wolf’s store helped inspire her description of
the fictional Hartsel’s store at Temecula in her
classic novel Ramona.
"Ramona Wolf and Helen Hunt Jackson seem to have
gotten along well, leading some to suggest that she was
the ‘original’ (or at least the namesake) of
Jackson’s famous fictional heroine (who was also half
Indian).” Phil Brigandi, author of Temecula at the
Crossroads of History.
The Temecula Valley Museum owns one of the original
letters Helen Hunt Jackson wrote to Ramona Wolf.
Because of the connection between Helen Hunt Jackson and
Ramona Wolf , Temecula assumes a focus in the events
that shaped the character and history of California and
the nation.

QUALITY
OF INSTRUCTION |
TVUSD
aligns its curriculum with state standards and
provides enrichment activities at the site
level to support instruction. The District
also holds a philosophy that each school
principal should be the Instructional Leader
on that campus.
As such, principals take an active role in the
learning process at each TVUSD school,
spending much of their day in the classroom.
TVUSD teachers are evaluated and given areas
for improvement by their principals. To aide
in this endeavor, administrators are trained
in evaluation skills.
This training is designed to help
administrators evaluate their staff in a
manner that will produce better teaching in
the classroom and thus enhance student
success. Staff development days enhance this
quest for excellence by giving teachers the
tools needed to succeed in an on-going manner.
