Ronald L. Chambers has been drawing and painting for more than 30 years, and in every show he has walked away with ribbons. This year, he walked away with one of the largest prizes in the Temecula Valley art world winning the 2006 Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival poster competition. Ckick here to view poster.

" I designed a poster for the Festival competition two years ago and that year they chose to use the previous year's runner up. That picture I reproduced and it is one of my best sellers now," Chambers said, adding that he created a different entry for this year's competition.

Chambers created the computer-generated winning poster by taking photographs around the valley, blending them into one composition on the computer, and then over-painting the final art with meticulous computerized brush strokes.

"I started painting and drawing full time after retirement," Chambers a 67- year old retired architect explained about his artwork. Until retirement Chambers had painted water colors, oils and charcoal artwork during his free nights and weekends.

"I was scanning and archiving some of my previous work on the computer and started repairing errors. Somewhere along the line I decided to create the artwork on the computer from scratch," Chambers said.

Since then his artwork has gradually gained notoriety. Currently his pieces can be seen in Panache and Doc Traders in Old Town Temecula. On February 10 he will have a month-long show at the Coffee Store in Murrieta and in April his artwork will be in a one-man show at the Temecula Library. His original paintings have won ribbons at the Orange County Fair, the Times Warner Art Festival in Palm Springs, and most recently the Temecula Art League's People's Choice Award.

Chambers winning poster artwork is now being reproduced as the souvenir poster of the 2006 Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival.

Souvenir posters will sell for $7 each. A limited edition of 50 posters are printed on archival paper and signed by the artist. The limited editions sell for $25.00.

The 2006 Festival will be June 2-4 at Lake Skinner. For more information call the office at (951) 676-6713 or visit ww.tvbwf.com.
