John Roberts, General Manager Southwest California Television KZSW, was presented with the Susan Komen Foundation media award. “I was surprised [to receive the award] because we are so new!” said Roberts.

On October 3rd, KZSW Channel 27, formerly KHEM Television, began programming in the Temecula Valley covering the most relevant local, national, and international news.

KZSW filmed the 7th Annual Susan Komen Race for the Cure held in Temecula on October 16 at the Promenade Mall. “We also filmed all of the events leading up to the race, added Roberts.

The Susan Komen Foundation raises money through these races to fund breast cancer research grants and support education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.

Roberts is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Inland Empire Affiliate of the Susan Komen Foundation. “It’s a great foundation to be involved with,” said Roberts.

So far more than 100 Komen races were held in cities around the United States. “It’s big big big,” exclaimed Roberts. “It’s a great event that everyone should come to next year.” Roberts also served as the emcee at the finish line, greeting runners as they arrived.
