Americans bought 313 million cases of wine in 2007 worth $30 billion or $95 a case, suggesting an average retail price of $7.92 a bottle (313 million cases entered trade channels- it is possible that not all of it was purchased in 2007). Almost 62 percent of this wine was produced in California and 31 percent was imported.
