Temecula’s first local news broadcast on October 3rd at 6:00 a.m. will kick off a day of celebration as Southwest California Television KZSW begins serving Temecula Valley residents, and the entire community is invited to participate. Festivities will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Temecula, Murrieta, and Lake Elsinore Chambers of Commerce, tentatively scheduled to coincide with the historic
newscast.
Tours of the studio and offices will be conducted at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. for those wishing to go behind the scenes to see how a television station works. Refreshments will be served throughout the day, and a special luncheon will held at noon for members of the Murrieta Rotary Club.
Local politicians will gather at 2:00 p.m. for the premier of “Newsmakers,” a program featuring information and opposing opinions of the most important issues facing Temecula Valley area residents. A steady stream of VIPs is expected to visit the studio throughout the day.
Temecula’s first evening news broadcast will be aired at 6:00 p.m., finally bringing the most relevant local, national, and international news to the valley, with coverage provided by local KZSW reporters, CNN, and the Associated Press. Television monitors located throughout the station will allow guests to be right there as the action unfolds. Music, refreshment, and various entertainments will also be provided from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
John Roberts, Southwest California Television’s General Manager, sees this as a very positive development for the area. “This will be an exciting day, and we look forward to having our friends share the experience with us. We have worked long and hard to bring the best resources to Temecula Valley residents, and now we will all be the beneficiaries,” he said. “We look forward to becoming an integral part of the community.”

The move will boost reception for the Temecula Valley area, establishing Southwest California Television KZSW as the premier source of local programming for valley residents. Transmission will recommence at 6:00 a.m. on October 3rd.
